out with the old, in with the new

Finally passed out
I have a new job! This is bitter-sweet for me since I absolutely loved being a nanny for a precious 8 month old little girl for the past 3 months. Unfortunately, her parents decided to get a divorce and Sophie and her mom were going to have to move closer to Dallas. Sad day for me. I was a little baby-retarded at the beginning but I finally started to understand all things baby. This included teething, excessive drooling due to teething, puking when she eats too much banana and/or sweet potato baby food, peeing on your feet when she is so excited to get in the bathtub, sneezing sweet potatoes on your face then laughing (she knew what she was doing), cradling to sleep, feeding (which could take up to 30 minutes), bathing, climbing all over you like a human jungle gym, monitoring what she gets her hands on since she puts everything imaginable in her mouth, smiles, giggles..... you get the idea.
She is one cute little girl

I'll sure miss this little cutie, but that's just the way the cookie crumbles sometimes. This was a great practice run with babies since I was the youngest in my family and my experience with babies was pretty minimal before this. Maybe the next little baby that I'll take care of will be my own....no rush though!

Out with the old, in with the new

So I got a job as a leasing agent at a really nice, new apartment complex being built about a block away from campus! This is going to be exciting for a couple of reasons. 1) I was a leasing agent for 2 years and I really enjoyed it so hopefully I'll like this job as much as my previous one 2) all of my jobs in the past few years have been ones where I work by myself so I'm excited to be working with other people that are my age and make some friends 3) It works fantastic with my schedule because they close every day at 6 and I don't have to work on Sundays

I start on Wednesday, so wish me luck!

Mother/Daughter Road Trip to Arkansas

One of my very best friends, Lacie, got married this weekend! And let me just tell you that I'm such a sucker for a good wedding. I always cry at the same two points at the wedding. #1 when the groom sees the bride for the first time and #2 Daddy/Daughter dance or toast. It's just so adorable and it gets me every time! Anyway, Lacie has been one of my best friends since we were in high school and when she and her husband, Rees, decided that they were going to get married in 3 weeks and she called me to let me know, you better believe I was immediately thinking that I could turn this into a weekend trip to Arkansas with my mom! And what a road trip it became!! 7 hours in the car with my mom was inevitably going to be a good time.
On friday my mom flew up to Dallas and we headed out right after my morning class. She showed up with all the fatty good road trip snacks.
We're talking:
mini snickers
salt and vinegar baked chips
apples
swedish fish (this woman knows me too well)
goldfish
There were apples included in that list so that negates at least one of the snickers, right? We had a wonderful drive to Jonesboro, Arkansas and I loved seeing the changing leaves! I had no idea that Arkansas was so pretty!

We attended Lacie's wedding on Saturday and she looked beyond gorgeous. The dress couldn't have been more perfect, her hair was amazing, and most importantly she was beaming. She was so in love and I couldn't have been happier for her. The wedding was elegant and beautifully done. I was so happy to have been a part of her special day. Rees is one lucky guy. Lacie is the most loyal and wonderful person you will ever meet and they are one adorable couple.

Unfortunately, we had to leave early on Sunday to get back to Dallas. But we had a wonderful weekend of shopping (er, just window shopping, Dad :) ) eating breakfast at Cracker Barrel every single morning (whoever invented eggs in a basket is downright genius in my book) and just laughing at everything imaginable. Best laughing moment? Driving through a town called Weiner, Arkansas. Really? Who names a town that? So naturally, when we saw the police car that said "Weiner Police" big and proud across the entire side of the car, we had to take a picture. It's funny and you know it.
Anyway, road-tripping with my mom was so much fun so I highly recommend it to all of you girls. Find a free weekend for you and your madre and go somewhere!

Junk food+ Mamma Mia and Taylor Swift soundtrack+ best friends' wedding+ Starbucks Caramel Apple Cider+ laughing so hard you can't breathe with your mom= one fun weekend

Let's do it again, Mom :)

Take it from Emma Watson....

"I find the whole concept of being ‘sexy’ embarrassing and confusing. If I do an interview with photographs people desperately want to change me - dye my hair blonder, pluck my eyebrows, give me a fringe. Then there’s the choice of clothes. I know everyone wants a picture of me in a mini-skirt. But that’s not me. I feel uncomfortable. I’d never go out in a mini-skirt. It’s nothing to do with protecting the Hermione image. I wouldn’t do that. Personally, I don’t actually think it’s even that sexy. What’s sexy about saying, ‘I’m here with my boobs out and a short skirt, have a look at everything I’ve got?’ My idea of sexy is that less is more. The less you reveal the more people can wonder. - Emma Watson

I think I can safely speak for all of us when I say... Good for you, Emma Watson! It's refreshing to see an actress with some morals and just some sense of identity. I think it's great that she is willing to say that she doesn't need to wear next-to-nothing to be liked in Hollywood.

All of us girls can take it from Emma Watson and remember that "less is more".
