Our Sweet Dog: Turbo

I believe this quote to be incredibly true because Turbo lived his life to please his family. He become our pet about 16 years ago, when he was just a small puppy. Grandma Montano bought him for us when our other dog, Dillon, had died. I think my parents were a little weary about getting another dog but the second you saw Turbo he just touched your heart and you immediately fell in love with him and his precious face. His entire life was spent basking in the sun, licking our hands, sitting/sleeping in our laps and snuggling with us when we needed him the most. Oh yeah, not to mention riding in the front basket of Dad's bike. He LOVED bike rides and Jitters. He would get to go on a bike ride with dad and as a treat, dad would reward him with a trip to Jitters where he would lick the drink out of his own "Turbo cup" until he shivered. He had the funniest little habits. Like, winking at you. No, really, he would WINK at you. He knew what he was doing :)

It's interesting to see when dogs show their protective side for their owners. For example, sometimes my mom would tickle me and Turbo would try to protect me by "biting" my mom. If he saw that something or someone was trying to hurt us, his 4 pound self would interject. Of course Turbo was not the kind of dog who would bite or was the least bit aggressive. He was a lover. We used to joke and say that if an intruder came into our house he would probably just lick them to death! Turbo loved to be in the car, but his favorite position was on the neck of the driver so that he could experience the outside. He would go on roadtrips with us from Colorado to Texas, Grand Junction to Denver, Houston to Austin, Houston to Corpus Christi and so on. 

Turbo's friendship could not be matched. Even though he never said a single word to us, we knew that he loved us and he knew that we loved him and he was a member of our family. The old adage "A dog is a man's best friend" is such a testament to Turbo's life. He did his job as a dog: He was the Heimburger's best friend
